Lynyrd Skynyrd werkt ondanks afscheid aan nieuw album

Lynyrd Skynyrd is momenteel bezig aan een uitgebreide afscheidstournee, maar fans kunnen ook nog een album verwachten van de groep.

Dat onthult zanger Johnny Van Zant in gesprek met Madness to Creation. “We have an album in the can really, to be honest. We have a bunch of songs that we’re all the time writing.”

Hij zegt dat de nieuwe muziek waarschijnlijk na de tour wordt opgenomen en uitgebracht. Ook verschijnt er nog een liveregistratie.

“We actually recorded our last show here in Jacksonville. Did a DVD and actually the CD for it and that’ll come out sometime along the way too.”

Aankomende zomer brengt de afscheidstournee Lynyrd Skynyrd naar Europa. In juni staat het onder meer op het Holland International Blues Festival in Grolloo en op het Belgische festival Graspop.

Voorlopig is de agenda gevuld tot en met september. Toch houdt het daar niet op, denkt Van Zant. “We have a lot of places we still want to hit. We’ll probably make another run sometime through Europe and down to Brazil, Australia and New Zealand.”
